Glorious by Peter Quilter
Directed by Pati Reynolds/Assoc.Director Dena Mattox
A sparkling comedy based on the true story of the astronomical success of the worst singer in the world. The play spins from Florence's charity recitals and extravagant balls, through to her bizarre recording sessions and ultimate triumph at Carnegie Hall in a hilarious and heartwarming comedy. In New York in the 1940s, the performer whom everyone wanted to see live was Florence Foster Jenkins, an enthusiastic soprano whose pitch was far from perfect. Known as ‘the first lady of the sliding scale’, she warbled and screeched her way through the evening to an audience who mostly fell about with laughter. But this delusional and joyously happy woman paid little attention to her critics, comfortably surrounded by devoted friends who were almost as eccentric as she was.
Starring: Pati Reynolds, Robert Nickel, Raymond Lynch, Bobbi Randall, Gabriela Sosa, and Maxine Levaren

Critics Review for Glorious
Florence is played by Pati Reynolds who did a fabulous job. Her acting was spot on, and her singing, well it’s not easy to sing that badly on purpose. Bravo. Robert Nickle, took on Cosme McMoon, second fiddle to Florence, he managed the role perfectly. Raymond Lynch, played,St. Clair, a flirtatious, out of work actor, with the elegance of a gentlemen. Dorothy, played by Bobbie Randall, displayed her own quirkiness, matching Reynolds acting as stand out performances. Gabriela Sosa, played Maria. She spoke in Spanish, and nobody knew what she was saying. But her actions spoke volumes, a great talent. Mrs. Verrider-Gedge, a villain of sorts, is played by Maxine Levaren. Her delivery is on point. - Kathy Carpenter/Splash Magazines

Take a walk down theatrical memory lane celebrating the emergence of American playwrights of 1919, Eugene O’Neill, Edna St Vincent Millay, Susan Glaspell and others. Join us for a free zoom performance of these two short pieces. O’Neill’s Before Breakfast alludes to the Washington Square artists in Greenwich village and the frustrations of a wife married to a writer. Millay’s short one act Aria de Capo asks the question why, we are by some mysterious power in our human nature, forced to distrust one another.

The Meeting by Jeff Stetson (March 2020)
Directed by Jerry Pilato
The Meeting is a powerful drama about the lives, philosophies, and times of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. by Jeff Stetson. Fascinating and dramatically compelling, this eloquent play depicts the supposed meeting of two of the most important men of modern times: Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Differing in their philosophies, the two men debate their varying approaches to the same grave social problems, both prepared to die for their beliefs but neither aware of how soon their assassins’ bullets would await them. This exciting and provocative play draws on many of the actual words of each man, it provides excellent insight into each and also how having the courage to speak and listen to others can help us find common ground and new solutions, even if such dialogue comes at a personal cost.

Mass Appeal by Bill C Davis (Dec 2019)
Directed by Jerry Pilato
Starring: Richard Rivera and Timothy R Benson
This thoughtful, powerful and funny play deals with the generation gap found in the priesthood. Mark Dolson, a young seminarian, comes to study and work with Father Tim Farley, an older priest who has burned out internally, his faith and his passion but has years of experience in the showmanship of the priesthood. When young Dolson begins to call Father Farley on his sloppy, passionless, theology and his contradictions in his life, the fire roars. Before it is over, both men learn from one another and form a bond.

Making God Laugh by Sean Grennan Directed by Pati Reynolds Making God Laugh follows one typical American family over the course of thirty years' worth of holidays. As time passes, the family discovers that, despite what we may have in mind, we often arrive at unexpected destinations. One Slight Hitch by Lewis Black
Directed by Jerry Pilato
When it comes to something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue, few brides expect the something old to be an uninvited ex-lover....It's Courtney's wedding day, and her mom, Delia, is making sure that everything is perfect. So much for perfect.
Featured in this hilarious farce are local talents Richard Rivera as Doc, Christine McCoy as Delia, Melanie Mino as Courtney, Deirdre Maloney as Melanie, Heather Armstrong as P.B., William Parker Shore as Harper and Christopher Szabo as Ryan.

First Night by Jack Neary (March 2018)
Directed by Jerry Pilato
It’s New Year’s Eve 1992. With a dreamlike plot film-obsessed Danny Fleming is watching an old movie at the video store where he works. When he wanders into the back room, Meredith O'Connor appears at the window then sneaks in and hides behind a rack of tapes in order to jump out and surprise Danny. These two haven't seen each other in 20 years, since they were in eighth grade. Danny's dreams of being a writer are all but forgotten and Meredith's two decades as a nun have taken a different direction; for Meredith it’s reminiscent of Maria Von Trapp and for Danny it is making a big splash owning his own cinema. What hasn’t changed is the past---when they were in eighth grade.
Featured in this heartfelt love story are local actors Timothy Benson and Sarah Alida LeClair with direction by Jerry Pilato and technical direction by Jay Maloney.

"BUILDING THE WALL" by Robert Schenkkan (Jan 2018)
Directed by Jerry Pilato
“There’s a hold-your-breath inevitability to what is finally disclosed in “Building the Wall,” the powerful dystopian drama about life in the Donald Trump era by Robert Schenkkan. You hear it in the distant, unnerving soundscape. You see it as two characters increasingly come to grips with their worst fears. Most of all, you feel it in the gut, because what the writer imagines is not so much a fanciful futurist leap but a calculated cautionary tale, taking place just two years from now”. — Frank Rizzo , Variety.

Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris Feb 2010
Lyrics by Eric Blau and Mort Shuman
Directed by John H. Cochran
Musical Director, Alan Zundelevich
The songs of Jacques Brel are brought to life in this marvelous musical cabaret experience. The Point Loma Actors are honoring Jacques Brel, a legendary Belgian and French songwriter, by portraying and interpreting his musical compositions, which deal with satire, moral conviction, and fervid love. The musical is staged in an innovative manner with two women, two men, and one pianist. Saturated with European sophistication, each ballad commemorates the pioneer works of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, revealing didactic themes for performance outside the conventional theatre.
